The Men’s Soccer team dropped their final scrimmage on Monday night to Chaminade-Julienne 2-0. Despite CJ controlling much of the game and outshooting Fairmont 13-3, the Firebirds defended with grit and battled hard. Senior captain Seth Tyson gave an outstanding effort in goal making 8 saves on the evening keeping his team in the game. CJ broke the scoreless draw with 15 minutes left in the match on a fortunate bicycle kick that floated over Tyson’s head. The Birds had their most dangerous stretch moving forward over the final 15 minutes as they worked to level the match. The Eagles added a second to their tally with 3.1 seconds left on the clock after the Birds failed to clear a scrum in front of goal following a corner kick.
The team will have one final week of preparation before opening the 2019 season with an away match at Lebanon on Tuesday, August 20 at 5:15/7:00. The games will be played at Lebanon Junior High School.
