The Fairmont volleyball program traveled to Beavercreek on Thursday, 9/24, and came home with the sweep.
After dropping the first set 23-25 the Firebird Freshman team started the second set with a burst of energy and came out ready to compete. They won the second set 25-20. They continued that momentum into the third set and finished strong winning 15-12 in the deciding set.
The JV team won in 3 tight sets tonight. They were able to handle the pressure and came through with some clutch plays. They played solid defense and kept their cool when the scores were tight. All around there were some great swings from the front row and aggressive serving. Scores were: 25-23, 19-25, 15-12.
The Firebird Varsity team stepped on the court ready to compete this evening defeating Beavercreek 3 sets to 2. They started the first set with consistent play and kept the pressure on Beavercreek winning 25-15. Beavercreek made some adjustments and began to challenge the Birds in the 2nd and 3rd set defeating them 12-25 and 16-25. Down 2 sets to 1 Fairmont dug deep and fought for every point in the 4th set winning 29-27. Going into the deciding 5th set the Firebirds played with grit going point for point with the Beavers. Tied at 9-9 the Firebirds were aggressive from the service line and continued to work together as a team pushing them to a 15-9 victory.
On Monday, 9/28, the Firebird volleyball program will travel to Northmont. Freshman will play at 5 pm, JV at 6 pm, and Varsity at 7 pm. They will return home on Tuesday, 9/29, to take on Springboro.
