Multiple Teams · Birds defeat Vikings

Freshman had an exciting match against the Miamisburg Vikings on Monday night, 9/17. They competed hard during the first set, but lost 20-25. Started out slow in the second and things did not look good for the Firebirds, but with great serving, teamwork, and determination they were able to win the second set 26-24. They carried that energy into the third set and won 15-10.

The JV team played a very controlled first set against the Vikings as they won with ease 25-13. They began the second set strong, but the Vikings didn’t give up. With great effort on defense and a dynamic middle attack the Firebirds were able to take the second set 25-20.

Continuing the momentum Varsity finished the first set with 14 kills and only 2 errors leading them to a first set victory 25-16. They kept the pressure on the Vikings with their serve and attack taking the second set 25-16. At the start of the third set the Firebirds dug themselves a hole and lost 20-25. They were able to refocus and came back to win the 4th set 25-20. The Firebirds had great energy throughout the match and showed determination, discipline and a great display of defense.

The Firebirds will return home for their next contest on Monday, 9-21, against Centerville for SENIOR NIGHT. The freshman will being at 5 pm, JV at 6 pm, and Varsity at 7 pm. We will be honoring the Seniors immediately following the JV match. We appreciate all your support as we recognize our 6 sensational Seniors.
