The Fairmont Wrestling Firebirds hosted the Division I District Championships at Trent Arena over the weekend.  Leading the way was District Champion Nevan Snodgrass (170) and District Runner-up Evan Overholser (145).  Nevan and Evan will now travel north to Columbus for the OHSAA State Championships on March 13-15 at The Ohio State University.

Snodgrass was dominant en route to his 3rd District title, winning all 4 bouts via bonus points (pin – pin – tech fall – default).  Overholser flipped 2 in-season losses in the Quarterfinals and Semifinals to earn a finals berth.  Snodgrass will be making his 4th consecutive state appearance while Overholser will make his debut.

Bryton Miller (120) and Mario Machado battled and won 2 bouts before being eliminated from the competition.  Noah Maas (106), John Conley (138), and Evan Thompson (160) also completed their seasons as district qualifiers.

The 83rd OHSAA State Wrestling Championships take place at The Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center beginning on Friday 3/13/20.   Brackets and additional info can be found at:
