Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Women’s Soccer: Firebirds Shutout Wayne. JV win streak continues.

The Lady Firebirds played well against the Wayne Warriors, bringing home 2 shutouts, with stellar defense.

JV scored early when Allison Bauman drew a penalty after being fouled in the Warrior’s box.  Corinne Tew took the PK and scored on a low shot to the left corner of the goal.  Corinne is now the JV team leader in points with 11 and tied with Kierra Thornton for leading the team in goals with 5 for the season.  Mackenzie Darner recorded another shutout, bringing her shutout total to 6 for the season!  JV is now on a 4 game win streak, bringing their record to 6-7-1.

Varsity went into half time at a 0-0 tie.  After many attempts on goal throughout the game, the Varsity squad scored about halfway through the 2nd half when Keira Erling created a breakaway after blazing past 2 defenders.  The assist for the first goal was credited to Kara Barlow.  Later in the half Keira scored her second goal as she connected with a volley from a bouncing ball 30-35 yards out.  The ball sailed high into the air and came down perfectly overtop of the jumping goalkeeper, into the net.  This marked Freshman Keira Erling’s first multi-goal game as she leads the Varsity squad in goals with 6 for the season.
