Coed Varsity Wrestling · FIREBIRDS 4TH AT GWOC; SNODGRASS WINS TITLE!


The Wrestling Firebirds continued their steady improvement with a very solid 4th place finish at the 20-team GWOC Championships over the weekend at Trent Arena!  In all, 7 of the 11 Firebirds entered in the tournament finished in the top 6.

Leading the charge was sophomore Nevan Snodgrass who won his 2nd career GWOC title in dominating fashion with 2 pins, a technical fall, and a 7-1 decision in the finals.
 
Junior Gavin Fogel improved on previous finishes with a runner-up performance at 138.
 
Junior Jaeden Crowe came back after a loss to the state # 1-ranked wrestler to finish 3rd at 220.
 
Placing 5th were senior Michael Maas (126) and sophomore Evan Overholser (132).  Also of note for Michael Maas was earning his 100th career win during the event – an impressive feat!
 
Finishing 6th were senior Caleb Ueckert (170) and sophomore Ali Salih (182).
 
Drew Altick, Bobby Robbins, Trent Williams, and Elijah Woodroof battled but came just short of placing.
 
The Varsity Firebirds will continue training and start The Road to Columbus on Feb. 23-24 at the Centerville Sectional Championships.
