Game Recap

The Firebirds extended their winning streak to 4 with a 6-1 victory over the Bellbrook JV team. Fairmont is now 14-5 overall (8-4 GWOC).

All 15 Firebirds saw the field and had at least an at-bat. Bellbrook struck first in the 2nd inning, when an outfield single scored a runner who reached base on a bad-hop error. Mitchell Hilty threw a complete game, aided by a defense who was stingy for the rest of the night and highlighted by an unassisted double play from Sam Donese in the 4th inning. Hilty gave up an unearned run on 3 hits. He fanned 10 batters, and walked 1.

The Firebirds offense answered the challenge Bellbrook issued in the second inning, scoring 3 in their half of the frame as they took advantage of errors and two-out hits by Donese, Logan Mayes, and Joel O’Brien. The Firebirds tacked on 2 runs in the 5th, and another in the 6th.
