The Fairmont Varsity Bowling Teams competed in the OHSAA Southwest District tournament this past Wednesday and Thursday, after the boys qualified 2nd and the girls qualified 4th at Sectionals last week.

Today, the Lady Firebirds (Amanda Bennett, Anna Borek, Cheyenne Gray, Skylynn Siens, Keirsten Schooler, Libby Oster, Genna Paulick and Jae Wachs) earned their 1st District Championship by overtaking Beavercreek in their last baker game to win by 20 pins. Junior Anna Borek led the Lady Birds with a 606 3-game series while Freshman Keirsten Schooler contributed a 568 series. Anna also earned All-Tournament Team honors with a 4th place finish.

Yesterday, the boys team competed hard all day at Districts but came up just 14 pins short of qualifying to go to State finishing in 6th place. The boys team were led by Senior Hunter Schlegel (596) and Junior Keith Schooler (579). Hunter made the All Tournament Team (8th) while also earning a trip to STATE as an individual bowler. Congratulations Hunter!

The Lady Firebirds will compete in the Girls OHSAA State Tournament in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, March 10th, while Hunter will compete in the Boys OHSAA State Tournament on Saturday, March 11th.
